
Located in the central-western part of Africain, the Republic of
the Congo (Brazzaville) covers an area of 340,000 km and has a population of
3.86 million, 50 percent of whom believe in primitive religions and the rest are
Christians, Muslisms and Catholic. French is the official language. Brazzaville
is the national capital. The current president is Denis Sassou-Nguesso.
Since Congo (Brazzaville) established diplomatic relations with
China on Feb. 22, 1964, bilateral relations have been growing steadily.
Bilateral cooperation in the areas such as politics, the economy, science and
technology and culture has become increasingly closer in recent years. President
Denis Sassou-Nguesso visited China in 2005. In 2006, Chinese Premier Wen Jiaobao
visited the Congo (Brazzaville). Bilateral trade reached 2.423 billion U.S.
dollars in 2005.
