
Lying in the central-western part of Africa, the Democratic
Republic of the Congo (Kinshasa) covers an area of 2.35 million km and has a
population of 57.51 million, most of whom are are primitive religion believers,
Christian or Catholic. French is the official language. Kinshasa is the national
capital. The current president is Josef Kabila.
Since China and the Congo (Kinshasa) normalized diplomatic
relations on November 24, 1972, bilateral relations have been growing smoothly
and bilateral cooperation in politics, the economy, science and technology and
culture has become increasingly closer. President Josef Kabila visited China in
2002 and 2005. Bilateral trade totaled 226 million U.S. dollars in
2005.
