Congolese president arrives in Beijing

    BEIJING, Nov. 2 (Xinhua) -- President of the Republic of Congo Denis Sassou-Nguesso arrived here Thursday for the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation.

    A total of 48 African countries that have diplomatic relations with China are to participate in the two-day summit slated to start on Nov. 4.

    The Republic of Congo forged diplomatic relations with China on Feb. 22, 1964. Denis Sassou-Nguesso visited China in 2005, while Chinese Premier Wen Jiaobao visited the Republic of Congo in 2006. Bilateral trade totaled 2.423 billion U.S. dollars in 2005.

    BEIJING, Nov. 2 (Xinhua) -- Rwandese President Paul Kagame arrived here Thursday for the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation slated for Nov. 4-5.

    Rwanda forged diplomatic ties with China on November 12, 1971. Bilateral trade topped 23.54 million U.S. dollars in 2005.

    Kagame visited China in 2001. Wu Guanzheng, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, paid a friendly visit to Rwanda last August.
